Junior Hannah Kelty is like any other high schooler. She does homework and hangs out with her friends. Also, she has hobbies such as listening to music, playing volleyball, or drawing.

The catch, though, is that for Kelty another one of her hobbies is horseback riding. The Bear Facts recently was able to catch up with Kelty for a Q&A about her extraordinary hobby.

The Bear Facts: How long have you ridden horses?

Hannah Kelty: I have ridden horse for about 16 or 17 years, but basically my entire life.

The Bear Facts: How many horses do you have?

Kelty: I have two horses, Red and Whisper

The Bear Facts: Do you ride competitively, and if so, what are some of the events you have won?

Kelty: Yes, I have won numerous jumping competitions in the state.

The Bear Facts: What made you want to ride horses in the first place?

Kelty: My mom has been around horses all her life. Also, my cousin is really big on jumping.

The Bear Facts: How much practice and training goes into riding horses?

Kelty: A lot of practice goes into riding horses. I probably ride about 4-5 times a week.

The Bear Facts: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration when it comes to riding horses?

Kelty: My mom because she’s really big about horses.

The Bear Facts: Do you have any plans to continue riding horses after high school?

Kelty: Yes, I want to get a scholarship to a good college for horseback riding. I don’t want to ride horses professionally, though.
