St. Joe seniors to sign to play sports at next level

MADISON– Last week, seven St. Joseph Catholic School athletes signed papers on National Signing Day to continue playing sports on the university and community college level beginning next fall.

The signing ceremonies took place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, in the lobby of the Fine Arts building on the St. Joe campus in Madison. Student-athletes, their families and their coaches were all in attendance of the signings.

Student-athletes who signed last Wednesday were the following:

  • Wyatt Davis: football— Northwest Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi
  • Reed Fry: soccer— Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi
  • Bailey Miller: soccer— Jones Community College in Ellisville, Mississippi
  • Blake Miller: soccer— Jones Community College in Ellisville, Mississippi
  • Leah Murphy: volleyball— Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio
  • Anna Chris Nicholas: swimming— Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi
  • Joe Pearson: baseball— Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi

Last November, Senior Sydney Shoemaker also signed to continue to play soccer for the Meridian Community College Eagles. “This is such a great experience and opportunity for my athletic future,” said Shoemaker about signing. “St. Joe has helped me to better myself, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
