Last Friday, St. Joseph Bruins, 1-1, won the Holy War against their arch-rivals, the St. Andrews Saints, for the sixth year in a row. The Bruins won 26-7, dominating throughout their home opener for the season.

“It was exhilarating to continue our winning streak,” said running back Kevin May. May helped the Bruins to get on the board in the first quarter when he scored on a 25-yard touchdown rush. Wide receiver Clifton Goodloe also had a strong game, scoring 2 touchdowns. The Bruins manhandled the Saints on both sides of the ball with the defense blowing through the Saints’ line.

Eighth-grade quarterback sensation Emile Picarella had another strong performance. “It was a great win. During the game, our guys brought out intensity for the entire game.”

Next week, the St. Joseph Bruins will be traveling to face the West Lincoln Wolves in Brookhaven, MS. “Coming off a win like last week we will be more confident, but we will have to work even harder in preparation to beat West Lincoln,” said May about the game on September 18.

Those who are not able to make the game can tune into the Bruin Broadcasting Network. The livestream can be watched through Bruin TV by clicking here or listen live on WJXC Jackson, Mississippi Catholic Radio, 107.9 FM starting at 6:45 p.m.
