With St. Joe’s biggest fundraiser of the year just around the corner, there is still a chance to win big at the now-virtual event.

The annual Jeans, Jazz, & Bruins Blues $10,000 Drawdown: Covid Edition is tomorrow Saturday, January 30 with $10,000 up for grabs along with other prizes. The fundraiser will be webcast live and streamed onto the Bruin News Now youtube channel. Due to Covid-19, this will be the first time that the Drawdown will be virtual.

“The St. Joe team headed up by Tricia Harris jumped into the unknown to have an exciting virtual event,” said St. Joe principal Dena Kinsey. “In addition, [they are] sending gift boxes to our ticket holders and sponsors.”

While tickets for the Drawdown will still be available for purchase up until tomorrow at 8 a.m., some parts of the fundraiser have already begun. The silent auction, a recurring feature of the event, opened up at 5 p.m. on Monday, January 25. However, those still interested in participating in the silent auction have until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow to do so. The Live Auction will open tomorrow at 6 p.m. and end at 6:45 p.m. Items for it are expected to leave fast with different packages that patrons can bid on.

Also, returning to the Drawdown is the Bruin Bucks raffle, which is the most popular feature of the event every year. The raffle is available to ticket holders and non-ticket holders alike, and Bruin Bucks can be purchased online and in-person at the front office: 13 tickets cost $100, 6 tickets cost $50, and 1 ticket costs $10.

Prizes for the Bruin Bucks raffle have been on display in the front office all week and include: iPad pencils and AirPods, a road trip package, a Macbook, a night in Natchez, a patio furniture package, and a night out to an exquisite restaurant.

The Drawdown has become a staple event at St. Joe as not only does it give members of the school community a chance to socialize, but as it has been a big way of bringing in financial support.

“The drawdown helps keep things going it helps keep tuition rates low; We normally raise quite a bit of money because people are so kind and generous and so helpful to Saint Joe,” Kinsey said.

As have all things this school year, Covid-19 has turned the event into a virtual showcase. Patrons can tune in from the comfort of their homes and watch the Drawdown happen in various locations around the St. Joe campus, such as the library and the Fine Arts Building.

“We have been working for almost a year planning the Draw Down,” said event coordinator Tricia Harris. “Everything we do–all the funds generated by this event–goes right back providing St. Joe students with the best education.”
