It’s early release day today, which means school lets out at 1:45 P.M. Juniors and seniors who have third lunch are dismissed at 1:15 P.M. if they have nothing else on campus for the remainder of the day. Just remember – you cannot leave and then return.
It’s been a busy start to the week so far. The softball team went on the road Monday, falling 9-6 to Adams County Christian School in Natchez. The swim team participated in the St. Al meet in Vicksburg and cross country traveled to Choctaw Trails for the MRA Invitational 5K late in the afternoon. Junior runner William Fugate finished first in the boys race with a time of 16 minutes 15 seconds. Junior Mabry Hirn led the girls, finishing 23rd in her race with a time of 23 minutes 47 seconds. Cross country returns to work at 8 A.M. Saturday in the Clinton Invitational at Clinton High School.
On Tuesday, varsity softball traveled to Clinton Christian and JV and varsity volleyball played at Hillcrest. Tonight, girls soccer plays at Bayou Academy. On Thursday, action picks up fast with soccer traveling to St. Al, volleyball at home against PCS and JV football at home against Lamar Academy.
Varsity football returns to action Friday night with a road game at Simpson Academy. The Bruins, 2-3, hope to break a two-game losing stream against the Cougars, who are 3-2. The Bruins fell to Simpson Academy twice last year, 28-21 at home in the regular season and 41-to-13 on the road in a first round playoff game.
Thursday is weekly mass in the fine arts theater. Relax, though, you can wear your regular uniform Thursday and not your dress uniform. Make sure you are in uniform, leave your cell phones in class and, guys, get your hair cut and make sure you shave.
Remember to catch the next regular edition of Bruin News Now this week, which will include a look at the real Natchez Trace as well as the Bruin softball team. The newscast should be available on the BNN YouTube channel by mid-morning with the latest St. Joe news.
I’m Luke Jones. Thanks for joining us today on the BNN Midweek Paws. Have a great rest of the week. So long everybody.
