Hello, St. Joe. This is the bruin news now midweek paws.
It’s Wednesday – early dismissal day. School ends today after F period with dismissal at 1:45 PM. If you are a junior or senior and your class ends at 1:15 PM, you can head home then. Just remember you can’t leave and then return.

It’s been quite a week so far here at St. Joe. Monday began with the annual Scary for Carrie fundraiser, where students paid $5 to dress in costume or $7 for free dress day on Halloween. Money raised will help off-set medical expenses for Bruin alumna Carrie Maniscalco, who continues to battle with undiagnosed illnesses.

Tuesday saw father Nick Adam celebrate All Saints Day mass on campus. That night, the boys and girls basketball teams head to Park Place Christian Academy for early season road games.

On Thursday, basketball returns to action with a home game against Richland. The 10th grade boys play at 5 PM, followed by the varsity girls at 6 and the varsity boys at about 7:15 PM. If you can’t make the varsity games in person, you can listen live on Bruin Sports Radio, heard exclusively on WJXCLP Jackson, Mississippi Catholic Radio, 107.9. You also can watch a live stream of the varsity girls and boys’ games with audio from Bruin Sports Radio right here on the Bruin News Now YouTube channel. Airtime for the girls is 5:45 PM with the boys’ game following.

On Friday, Bruin football returns. The Bruins travel south to Mendenhall, where they will take on Simpson Academy in a second-round playoff game. The Bruins, 6 & 5, lost to Simpson, 7 & 2, earlier this season by a score of 43 to 6. This time, it’s payback for the Bruins. Kick off is set for 7 PM.
Then on Sunday, the Pro-Life Club will host a baby shower benefitting Catholic charities’ maternal services. The event will be in the Fine Arts lobby at 10 AM. Food and baby shower-themed games will take place. Tickets are $5 each, with all money raised going to Catholic charities and their efforts to provide help for mothers and their children in need.
